Chapters Health System Director Wins FHPCA Award of Excellence

Violet Argo Wins Hospice Heart Award for Contributions as Clinical Education Director

The Florida Hospice and Palliative Care Association awarded Violet Argo, director of nurse standards for Chapters Health System, the Hospice Heart Award as part of their annual Awards of Excellence. Violet earned the award through her contributions as Director of Clinical Education for Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care, which officially announced its affiliation with Chapters Health System in December of 2021.

The Hospice Heart Award recognizes an individual or team who, through their daily outlook and teamwork encapsulates the “heart of hospice.” They may not work at the bedside with patients, but their work everyday points to compassion, integrity, and the primary care for the family during their time of need. Whether piloting a new program, streamlining a process, or discovering a better way to provide a service, the recipient of this award advances the mission of hospice and provides a path for others to follow.

“It’s truly an honor to be recognized by individuals who share my passion for such a meaningful mission,” said Argo. “I’m grateful to them, my team, family and everyone who has supported me. It’s been a privilege to help our teams bring quality care to the patients and families of Cornerstone Hospice & Palliative Care and I appreciate the opportunity to continue that work with Chapters Health and all our affiliates.”

Violet is an experienced and dedicated hospice nurse with roots in oncology and home health. She started her hospice career at Good Shepherd Hospice as a case manager and took on other roles such as clinical manager, clinical team leader, patient care manager and senior nurse preceptor. In 2011, Violet became the admissions director and subsequently an executive director at Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care. Chapters Health System officially announced Violet as the Director of Nursing standards in May of 2022.

“Each year, we have the distinct honor to present FHPCA awards to the individuals and the teams that represent the very best in the Hospice & Palliative Care profession in Florida,” said FHPCA President & CEO, Paul Ledford. “With almost 60 nominations this year, award-winners like Violet are true stand-outs in the field and are well-deserving of the recognition for their efforts.”
