What kinds of volunteer opportunities are available at Chapters Health System?
We offer many ways for our volunteers to participate and make a difference — from working at our thrift stores, grocery shopping for families and clerical work at our offices, to fundraising, sitting vigil or just giving family members a much-needed break.
To become a Chapters Health volunteer, simply complete the online volunteer application and a Chapters Health volunteer coordinator will contact you. For more information about volunteer opportunities at our hospice affiliates, at Life’s Treasures Thrift Stores, or at our grief camps for children and teens, see Volunteer Opportunities.
What else do I need to know about becoming a volunteer?
Chapters Health has volunteer opportunities to suit people with a variety of interests and talents. Days and times are flexible and every role is valued. If you have one to four hours per week and a true desire to help, we invite you to embark on your own life-changing journey as a Chapters Health volunteer.
Volunteers offer their time weekly, monthly or seasonally. We accept volunteers as young as 14 and service hours are provided for high school students. All prospective volunteers must complete an application and interview before participating in a volunteer orientation. Volunteers working directly with hospice patients are required to attend a thorough training. Office and community volunteers are oriented to the organization in a more condensed training session. All training sessions are provided free of charge, during daytime and evening hours.
Where will the money from my donation to Chapters Health Foundation go?
In the last year, our affiliates provided nearly $3 million in charity care. In order to continue to meet the needs of patients and families who cannot afford hospice services, we rely on community contributions. We never turn away patients who are uninsured or otherwise unable to pay — whether for home care, palliative medicine, hospice care, or any of our programs or services.
A tax-deductible gift will help meet the needs of those patients and honor the many different people whose lives are touched. It will also help support many vital community programs and services. Chapters Health Foundation is a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization and offers a variety of giving opportunities from memorial gifts to planned giving. For information on how to make a donation, see Personal Giving.
How can I set up a regular contribution to Chapters Health Foundation from my company?
We invite you to join Chapters Health Foundation’s Corporate Honor Roll, a network of community-minded businesses whose philanthropic support is key to helping Chapters Health Foundation achieve its mission of bringing kindness and compassionate care to all patients and families. Through sponsorship of events and grants for specific programs, corporations and companies can support our work year round. For more information, see Corporate & Institutional Giving.
How can I partner with Chapters Health Foundation on a fundraising event in my community?
We greatly appreciate our friends in the community who wish to host fundraising events benefiting the Chapters Health Foundation. We are dedicated to ensuring that every dollar raised stays in our communities to directly help our patients during one of life’s most challenging moments.
From golf outings and walks to regattas and private dinners, community-hosted events raise money to help patients and their families who cannot afford hospice, home health or palliative medicine services. If you or your business, organization, community group or school is interested in hosting an event to benefit a Chapters Health System affiliate, we’d love to hear from you. For more information, see Community-Hosted Events.
