Lights of Remembrance

The holiday season is a time of tradition, hope and joy, usually celebrated with family and friends. Inevitably, holidays also turn our thoughts to loved ones who are no longer here but whose memory burns brightly in our hearts. To help families and friends cope with the holiday season, Lights of Remembrance was created. It is an opportunity for hospice families and community members to come together to celebrate and remember their loved ones in a special way.

Hospice has a unique understanding of loss, and for more than 10 years, Good Shepherd Hospice and LifePath Hospice have maintained a tradition of remembrance and comfort during the holidays. Lights of Remembrance, our annual tree-lighting ceremony, provides a special way to remember loved ones. Trees adorned with white lights, symbolize the brightness our loved ones brought into our lives. Each light is given in memory of one who is no longer with us, or in honor of someone special, bringing warmth, comfort and a sense of hope to the givers.

Additionally, gifts received for Lights of Remembrance help ensure patients and families receive the care and comfort they need, whether pain relief medication, a volunteer to hold a hand, inpatient care at one of our facilities or bereavement support while they heal.
